Celebrities get countless requests to lend their name to good causes. Sometimes they do it for the publicity, but when Alex O’Loughlin, known to the world as Steve McGarrett of “Hawaii Five-0,” participates in Saturday’s second annual Hawaii Walk to Defeat ALS at Kapiolani Park, it’ll be personal.
“My wife’s mother passed from ALS,”O’Loughlin said in a phone interview Wednesday. “My kids don’t have a grandmother because of this disease. My wife doesn’t have a mother and I don’t have a mother-in-law.”
