From the opening scene consisting of the filming of the movie “Skankenstein”, the idea of monsters, both literally and figuratively, is in play through out this episode.
The main “monsters” in this episode are Jax and the various street gangs that he is manipulating in a Machiavellian fashion for reasons that aren’t yet known and also his mother Gemma.
This idea of mother and son being monsters is only fortified when Gemma tells Jax’s oldest son Abel that his dad “is a good man” when asked by her grandson if his dad “does bad things” after the kid witnesses Nero (Jimmy Smits) beating the crap out of a escort’s dad who struck Gemma.
